Passed his MBBS & MS from SMS Medical College, Jaipur. He along with her wife Dr. Sandhya Mahesh started 1st Eye Hospital in Hadoti Region – Kota Eye Hospital & Research Foundation. Dr. MaheshPunjabi is an institution in himself who has managed to make his dream “Bringing The Best To The Most in Need” a reality through his 34 years of rigorous and selfless service to the rural masses of hadoti region. Dr. Mahesh Punjabi is better described as a VISIONARY for restoration of vision. His efforts have helped drastically reduce the prevalence of blindness, not only in Kota but also around five neighbouring districts of hadoti.
Dr. Mahesh Punjabi is pioneer in Phacoemulsification & microsurgery in state of Rajasthan. He was awarded Gold Medal on 21st August 2005 by Intra Ocular Implant and Refractive Society, Chennai for making phaco technique of cataract operation popular in the state of Rajasthan. Dr. Punjabi has traveled all over the world to attend international conferences i.e. America, China, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Singapore, Abu Dhabi etc. He has also presented a number of papers at various national & international conferences.
Dr. Mahesh Punjabi was Hon. General Secretary of Rajasthan Ophthalmological Society for last three years and is involved presently in various activities of ROS. He is president of Kota Division Ophthalmological Society. He is members of various institutions. i.e. American Academy of Ophthalmology, All India Ophthalmological Society and Indian Intra Ocular & Refractive Society. Now his new venture moves towards the help of Diabetic Community of Hadoti region as now he patronises, Hadoti Diabetic Care Foundation which is thoroughly evident in this site itself.
